Kainaliu Community Garden
Lehuʻula Iki Community Garden is a community-driven initiative managed by the Kīhā Manā Foundation to promote sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, and Hawaiian cultural practices. Located in Kainaliu, the garden serves as a shared space where local growers can cultivate native Hawaiian plants and food crops while fostering community collaboration and education.
The project includes landscaping management of access to the property, overseen by Kīhā Manā and supported by community members and volunteers, ensuring safe and sustainable entryways. Additionally, sections of the property will be made available for individual growers and co-op farming, creating opportunities for local residents to participate in agriculture while preserving traditional land-use practices.
By implementing a cooperative model, Lehuʻula Iki encourages the sharing of resources, knowledge, and responsibilities, fostering a sense of community ownership. The garden will also provide educational opportunities, cultural workshops, and engagement initiatives to strengthen the connection between people, the land, and Hawaiian traditions.
Through strategic partnerships, grants, and community participation, the Lehuʻula Iki Community Garden aims to become a thriving, self-sustaining hub for local food production and cultural preservation.
